Eduard Kunz nacque in Siberia da padre di origini tedesche e madre russa. Studiò con Michail Khokhlov alla Scuola Speciale Genssin per bambini dotati e con Andrei Diev al Conservatorio Tchaikovsky di Mosca e fece il suo debutto con l’Orchestra Filarmonica di Omsk a soli 10 anni. In seguito, sotto la guida di Norma Fisher e Mark Ray conseguì un Postgraduate Diploma presso la Royal Nothern College of Music (Manchester) con il massimo dei voti ed, inoltre, gli venne conferita anche una Medaglia d’oro dai duchi di York.
Nominato dalla BBC Music Magazine tra i 10 più grandi pianisti dell’indomani, Eduard Kunz si è esibito con numerose orchestre, tra le più grandi del Regno Unito, tra le quali la BBC Symphony Orchestra, la BBC Concert Orchestra, la BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, la Royal Scottish National Orchestra, la Hallé, la Ulster Orchestra, la City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, la Welsh National Opera Orchestra, la Royal Liverpool Philharmonic e la London Musici Orchestra, sotto la guida di eminenti direttori d’orchestra quali Tugan Sokhiev,Christian Mandeal, Edward Gardner, Gerard Schwarz, Lothar Koenigs, Garry Walker, Clark Rundell, Mark Stephenson, Alejandro Posada, Josep Caballe Domenech, Alexander Joel, Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Barry Wordsworth, David Angus e altri.
Debutti di altrettanta importanza sono stati con la Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin presso Berlin Philharmonie, con la Philharmonia Orchestra presso Royal Albert Hall, con la Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, con l’Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León, con l’Orkest van het Oosten, con l’Orchestre national du Capitole de Touluse e con la Braunschweig Symphony Orchestra; ed anche recital in prestigiose sale da concerti quali Wigmore Hall a Londra, Bridgewater Hall a Manchester, Louvre a Parigi, Concertgebouw ad Amsterdam e Winterthur Hall a Barcellona ed altre.
Ha effettuato registrazioni per stazioni radiofoniche di musica classica, come BBC Radio 3, Radio France, Deutschlandradio Kultur e molte altre.
Eduard è vincitore di 13 primi premi in vari concorsi pianistici internazionali, tra i quali il Grand Prix al XVIII Concorso George Enescu di Bucharest e Medaglia d’Oro al XXII Concorso New Orleans e all’ VIII Concorso Paderewski.
Numerosi altri premi gli sono stati conferiti, come la Medaglia d’Argento ricevuta dalla Worshipful Company of Musicians a Londra, premi dalla Hattori and Musical Foundation, da Dame Myra Hess e dalla Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe, dalla Spivakov Foundation ed ha ricevuto il premio “Richter” dalla Rostropovich Foundation a Mosca. Nel Concorso Tchaikovsky del 2011 raggiunse solamente la 2º prova.
Eduard è stato un artista BBC Radio 3 New Generation (2006-2008), ed è attualmente un artista della Moscow Philharmonic Society, un laureto del Verbier Festival e un Yamaha Artist.
Nel 2010 è apparso nel film “A Surprise in Texas” con estratti dal Concorso Van Cliburn 2009.
Eduard Kunz dal 2011 è stato invitato più volte a suonare per “Serate Musicali” a Milano, rendendole, a detta di Hans Fazzari stesso, “Serate – Pro Veritate” per il suo suonare con l’anima, “più dentro nei tasti e nel cuore” e già ritenuto “leggenda”.
“Questa sera le “Serate Musicali” tornan “Serate –Pro Veritate”. Non sempre ciò è possibile. Stasera sì. Busoni non ci capirebbe. Nemmeno Paderewski (che lodava Moritz von Rosenthal, allievo di Liszt, che per stroncarlo si dovette ricorrere niente meno che a Brahms). Nemmeno Godowski, il super pedante, che tormentò a sangue il nostro Shura. Ci capirebbe Shura che diceva: «E forse noi siamo rimasti soli!». Anche Shura si sentirebbe meno solo. Oxana Shilova is a gifted singing actress highly acclaimed for her magnificent voice, outstanding technique, intelligent musicianship, and dazzling dramatic talent. She is the leading soprano soloist of the Mariinsky Theater and has collaborated with Valery Gergiev, Pablo Heras-Casado, Gianandrea Noseda, Tugan Sokhiev, Mickhael Güttler, Nikolay Znaider, Constantine Orbelian, Mikhail Tatarnikov, Fabio Mastrangelo, Yuri Bashmet, Charles Roubaud, Alain Maratrat, Francesca Zambello, Stephen Lawless, Michael Mayer, and Claudia Solti.
Leading roles at her home stage of the Mariinsky Theatre include Adina L’elisir d’amore, title-role Lucia Di Lammermoor, Violetta La Traviata, Susanna Le Nozze Di Figaro, Antonia Les Contes D’Hoffmann, Pamina Die Zauberflöte, Donna Anna Don Giovanni, Madame Cortese Il Viaggio A Reims, Mrs Alice Ford Falstaff, Desdemona Otello, Helena A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Lyudmila Ruslan and Lyudmila and the Swan Princess The Tale of Tsar Saltan. Other repertoire includes Elvira I Puritani, Gilda Rigoletto, Lucrezia I Due Foscari, Ascagne Les Troyens, Micaëla Carmen, Leila Les Pêcheurs de Perles, Norina Don Pasquale, Despina Così fan tutte, Ilia Idomeneo, Re di Creta, Xenia Boris Godunov, Emma Khovanshina, Luisa Betrothal in a Monastery, Belinda Didon et Enée, Rosina Il Barbiere di Siviglia, title-role The Golden Cockerel and Naiad Ariadne auf Naxos.
She has performed on the international stages including the Palau de les arts Reina Sofia, the Dallas Opera, the Bergen National Opera, the Opéra de Lyon, the De Nederlandse Opera and Reims, Montpelier, Avignon, Bordeaux, Toulouse and Marseilles. She is a regular participant at international festivals with highlights including the Music Festival Stars of the White Nights (2008-2016), the Moscow Easter Festival (2013), summer festivals in Baden-Baden (2016) and Edinburgh (2016).
Her recent operatic highlights include Violetta (La Traviata) at some of the greatest Russian opera theaters including the Bolshoi Theatre and her European debut at the Sofia National Opera in May 2016. In October 2016 she made her role debut as Micaëla in Carmen at the Primorsky Stage of Mariinsky Theatre. During the White Night Festival 2017 she made a distinguished debut as Musetta in La Bohème.
Oxana is performing regularly on the concert stage in recitals and vocal performances in Russia and abroad. She has a vast concert repertoire including Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Exsultate, Jubilate, Haydn’s Creation, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Stravinsky’s Les Noces. She has toured in Belgium, Great Britain, Italy, Norway, Slovakia, Finland, France, USA and Argentina. Additionally, she has appeared in recitals with romances of Debussy, Chausson, Rimsky-Korsakov, Tchaikovsky, Glinka, Rachmaninov, and Medtner. In May 2016 she opened the festival «St. Petersburg Palaces» at the Hermitage Museum with Stephen Costello and Constantine Orbelian. Also in May she performed with Anna Netrebko and Ildar Abdrazakov at the festive concert Classic Gala on Palace Square in St. Petersburg.
Oxana Shilova was born in the city of Almalyk, Tashkent region of the Soviet republic of Uzbekistan. Her parents were both Honored Teachers of Russia. Her farther was also singer-songwriter and had recorded an album. Her first musical teacher Ekaterina Goncharova took Oxana to her brother Evgeny Fedotov, one of the soloists of the Kirov Theatre in St. Petersburg. Carefully following his advice, Oxana became a student of the Rimsky-Korsakov Music College where she met her longtime teacher Mariana Petrova, a lyric coloratura soprano of the Mussorgsky opera and ballet theatre. Thereafter Oxana continued her education at the St. Petersburg State Conservatory entering with the highest grades. At the 3d year of studies she joined the Young Singers Academy of the Mariinsky Theatre. As a member of the Studio at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory, she had her first stage experiences as Belinda in Purcell’s Didon et Enée, Barbarina, Suzanna in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro. On the Mariinsky stage she made her first appearance as Despina in Cosi fan tutte by Mozart.
Oxana has participated in master classes with Joan Sutherland, Elena Obrazstova, Mirella Freni, Renata Scotto, Ileana Cotrubas and Placido Domingo. She is the winner of numerous international music competitions.
